Job Description

The Security Officer's responsibility is to assist in the daily operations and perform duties directly related to the safety and security of Spanish Peaks Mountain Club (SPMC) assets, Members, guests, and employees.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that each member and guest receives outstanding guest service in a guest-friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every member and guest, maintaining outstanding service standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of guest service.
  • Empowered to guarantee total guest satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times, take pride in representing SPMC professionally with our members and guests and assure that all transactions with them are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees, members, and guests at all times. In the event of an accident or emergency, seek medical attention if necessary and contact the SPMC General Manager or Human Resources immediately.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a positive working environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administer security programs to deter and address theft, vandalism, and violence against the resort, its employees, and its guests.
  • Make themselves visible to deter criminal activity and to give members and guests a sense of safety.
  • Carry radios or phones to monitor calls requesting safety or security assistance.
  • Respond to crisis situations and provide assistance when necessary.
  • Interact with guests of the resort to provide assistance in matters including safety and security, to bolster loss prevention efforts and to offer general customer assistance.
  • Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
  • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures.
  • Control traffic by directing drivers.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
  • Maintain the environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
  • Maintain organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Club policies, procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Meet departmental productivity, organization, punctuality/attendance, and consistency standards.
  • Treat Members, guests, vendors, customers, and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of our Members and guests at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with all employees, supervisors, managers, and directors.
  • Perform work in a safe and high-quality manner.
  • Project a favorable image of SPMC to Members and guests at all times.
  • Provide escorts and details for Members or guests who may need intensive security because of their high profiles, which might bring threats of violence or encourage interruptions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, vocational training, or job-related course work.
  • Proven work experience as a security guard/officer or relevant position.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Strong verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; Hold a current Montana Guard card.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office systems
  • Able to speak clearly and effectively with Members, guests, co-workers, vendors, and other SPMC departments. Able to write clearly and legibly.
  • Ability to solve basic problems and/or know when a manager's assistance is necessary.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
