Role: EHS / ESG SPECIALIST


Summary:


Develop and implement programs to prevent environmental issues, injuries, and health impairment. Oversees environmental, social and governance policies and procedures, as well as reviewing and appraising proposed actions to be socially and environmentally sustainable and comply with internationally recognized best practices. Support in defining the ESG strategy, work on implementing and reporting on the ESG strategy for local site(s). Takes an active part in measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an investment, professional operation, government program, or environmental initiative before they are put into effect for the organization.


A Key Duty will be working directly with Operations and other departments to reduce risk, support improvement actions, achieve factory objectives, and ensure activities are compliant with corporate, customer, and regulatory agencies. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting WEG's Environmental, Social, and corporate Governance (ESG) sustainability programs, including GreenHouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions and recycling programs.
  • Conducting regulatory safety environmental audits and hazardous waste audits.
  • Audit safety reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Investigate injuries, conditions, and incidents that do, or could involve, actual or potential liability including being involved in the handling of Workers Compensation claims.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Responsible for assisting in EHS strategic planning to help move the organization forward.

Requirements:

Basic:

  • Desire & capacity to work in a diverse & inclusive environment with ability to work within the WEG Code of Ethics & Values. (WEG Code of Ethics, 4th Edition)
  • Four-Year degree in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has current work authorization for employment in the United States.
  • Must complete: Job interview, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Safety Sensitive position: Drug panel includes THC.

Preferred:

  • Experience in manufacturing, including internships and co-op programs.
  • Working proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish.
  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Certification.
  • Certified Sustainability (ESG) Practitioner.
  • LEED Certification.
  • Resides within reasonable commuting distance of Washington, Missouri.
