The Emory Clinical Cardiovascular Research Institute (ECCRI) is seeking a biostatistician/bioinformatics analyst to conduct analyses in support of a variety of -omics studies that investigate the role of genetic and environmental factors on cardiovascular disease. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to work with leading scientists and to progress his/her career in one of the nation's top research universities.

The successful candidate will participate in the analysis of large, high-throughput 'omics datasets such as genomics, gene expression (mRNA-Seq, Microarray), metabolomics, via the application of bioinformatics and statistical methods. Projects may also include analyses of other data types, such as longitudinal data, survival data, using conventional statistical methods. Data analysis will be carried out using off the shelf bioinformatics analyses techniques as well as in house methodologies. Data management, analysis, interpretation, and documentation leading up to publications will be necessary for successful progression of projects.

Key responsibilities:

* Perform statistical analysis of omics datasets participate in research meetings. Utilize appropriate methods and keep up with the literature on rapidly evolving data analysis tool sets. Interpret results and communicate the results with researchers.

* Assist in the management of large biological datasets and maintaining data analysis workflows as necessary for data analysis.

* Document analysis workflows and methods for further report scientific publication in peer reviewed journals

Preferred Education: M.S. in Bioinformatics / Biostatistics / Statistics / Epidemiology or closely related field.

Preferred Skillset:

* Experience with applying appropriate statistical and/or bioinformatics analyses to large molecular biological datasets.

* Experience with the use of statistical packages in R and/or other scripting languages such as Perl, Python or Matlab.

* Experience in statistical concepts related to biomedical applications.

* Strong communication and writing skills in English.

FORMAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintains software, hardware and the network in a bioinformatics setting or molecular modeling laboratory. Supervises regular updates and recommends state-of-the-art enhancements. Analyzes high throughput screening data and performs structure activity analyses to generate predictive correlations. Applies a limited range of molecular modeling tools to refinement of high throughput screening hits. Presents the models in a form that allows users to make decisions concerning the direction of an experimental program. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioinformatics or related field. 2 years of experience in bioinformatics and/or computational chemistry.
