Senior Staff Accountant

Position Description: At Truly Free we are looking for a Senior Accountant who can elevate the caliber of the Companys financial operations and provide financial leadership within the department and throughout the Company. He or she will be in charge of implementing and supporting GAAP across the organization. Responsibilities will include overseeing the recording of the Companys financial transactions, and A/P processes, assisting with reconciliations for inventory, cash, and credit cards, and assisting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts Additionally, this role will be performing the monthly and annual closing of our books and records. The Senior Accountant is a W2 Position and is classified as an exempt employee.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant will prepare monthly financial statements and implement proper internal controls to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities, in order to achieve organizational targets. He or she will drive best practices across the accounting function, including but not limited to expense policies, vendor policies, revenue recognition, inventory, etc.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
-Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting such as budget v actual
-Will assist CFO with forecasts, monthly outlooks, and other forward-looking reports
- Manage vendor relationships and details, accounts payable ledger, and bill pay processes.
Reconcile monthly cash, credit card, and sales ledgers.
Work with operations to manage suppliers, inventory, and cost of goods sold.
-Assist the Controller in creating and implementing systems of control and cost reduction.
-Assist in Planning and coordinating all accounting functions.
-Provide the Controller and other departments with financial information helpful in the decision-making process.
-Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.- Training skills/Willing to train
-Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.
-Support regulatory reporting to include tax planning and compliance.
Qualifications and Competencies:
-A Bachelor's or Masters degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance. CPA is a plus.
-Minimum 3-5 years experience of accounting or audit experience. Experience with inventory-based business is a plus.
-Experience may be substituted for education or a combination of both may be considered.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-Excellent ability to communicate both orally and in writing to all levels of management & staff, both internal and external to the company.
-Basic understanding of purchasing and inventory control management.
-Experience with accounting software, such as Quickbooks Online, QBD, Netsuite, Oracle, etc.
-Previous CPG or e-commerce experience is a plus.
-Must be legal to work in the United States and successfully pass a background check.
