Title: Youth Development Professional
Length of Term: Seasonal/Temporary
Time Commitment: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

This position advances the mission of Boys and Girls Club of Rochester by creating experiences that engage, educate, and energize youth. Youth Development Professionals facilitate learning experiences for young people using interactive curricula that ignite creativity and passion while ensuring youth have an amazingly fun summer!

What You’ll Do:
- Enthusiastically engage Club members by leading them through daily activities.
- Adhere to the summer schedule and complete assigned responsibilities including set-up, clean-up, and program maintenance.
- Set clear boundaries for Club members by enforcing Club rules and policies.
- Continually monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of all Club members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Build and maintain a good working rapport with youth, staff, parent/caregivers, volunteers, and Club supporters.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and communication channels.
- Be a role model for both staff and members by being punctual, following dress code, being respectful and having a positive attitude.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in youth development, education, or recreation (i.e. coaching) preferred
Skills:
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage a group of youth with distractions/interruptions
- Ability to relate to and motivate youth of various ages
- Ability to resolve conflict and manage behavior
- Ability to communicate effectively with families, staff, volunteers, and Club supporters
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to watch and listen to youth activities
- Ability to move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces
- Ability to bend and lift a minimum 50 pounds
Required qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- At least high school diploma or equivalent or higher
Preferred qualifications:
- 18 years or older
