Testing Required:

On-Site Role: Must be available to work on-site at this assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary
    Leads team of design and/or field personnel engaged in the design, construction, maintenance, emergency repair, and/or operation of overhead and underground lines, substations/stations or steam equipment. Implements and drives changes necessary to ensure continuous improvement within the Processes and leads a single focused team or grouping of teams to meet the specific objectives of the Processes. THIS JOB WILL COMPLY WITH DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORATION (DOT) DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING
Key Accountabilities
  • Supervises underground field personnelin their day-to-day activities. Additionally, may be reuired to supervise substation employees, overhead crews and Planners in the design, construction, maintenance, emergency repair and/or operation of overhead and underground, substation/station or steam equipment.
  • Meets or improves performance goals, measures, and targets in support of the Processes. Manages all aspects of work assigned so as to complete a quality job, on time, and within budget.
  • Assures and maintains personnel's adherence to work practices and procedures, safety rules and regulations, and Union/Management agreements.
  • Develops and maintains an employee environment that embraces the Core Values and encourages responsiveness to a changing business environment, emphasizes the importance of employee safety, and employee development.
  • Represents the Company in daily contacts with customers, developers, municipal and governmental officials, and other utilities.
  • Promotes teamwork through coaching, training, and consistent administration of union contracts.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical discipline and twoyears experience in the construction, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of underground circuitry as a cable splicer; OR
  • Associate's degree in business or a technical discipline and fouryears experience in the construction, maintenance, operations and troubleshooting of underground circuitry as a cable splicer; OR
  • High School diploma or equivalent and sixyears experience in the construction, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of underground circuitry as a cable splicer or ten years experience dealing with underground systems.
  • Satisfactorily completed a Basic Electricity Course.
Other Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with others.
  • Proficient verbal, nonverbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop goals, measures, and targets in support of organization, process, and corporate objectives, and to make recommendations and implement solutions.
  • Must become Red Tag Qualified within six months of selection.
  • Availability to work shifts and extended periods of overtime
  • Knowledge of the Company's software programs, such as OAS, WMS, etc. Must meet Company driving standards.
  • Must possess, or obtain prior to start date, a Group "A" Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement or a Classified Endorsement Temporary Instruction Permit to operate a Group "A" vehicle with air brakes.
  • Drivers with the Classified Endorsement Temporary Instruction Permit must obtain a Group "A" Commercial Driver's License as soon as certified by Employee Training.
  • Canadian citizens must obtain an Ontario Class "A" License with a "Z" endorsement for air brakes.
  • Working knowledge of EEO, safety, Company / Union / Management Partnership, employee development programs.
  • Working knowledge of and the ability to administer the Union/Management labor agreements.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, including on-call supervisory rotation
  • Ability to perform emergency or storm assignment as needed
