24/25 Special Education Teacher - South Dakota (Permanent position)

The Java School District in South Dakota is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (ECSE) to join our team!

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct ECSE services to children ages 3-5 in their home school districts (caseload fluctuates)
• Collaborate with Birth-Three coordinator to evaluate and provide services to children in that age range (birth to 3 years old)
• Conduct evaluations for children ages 3-5 across five schools
• Coordinate developmental screenings in member school districts
• Case manage and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students
• Supervise paraprofessionals working with children receiving ECSE services
• Organize and maintain the ECSE materials storage room
• Travel between schools to provide services (mileage provided)
• Maintain excellent munication (written and oral) with families, teachers, and administrators

Qualifications:

• Valid South Dakota Special Education Teacher certification (Early Childhood)
• Experience working with young children with disabilities (preferred)
• Strong assessment, planning, and instructional skills
• Excellent munication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

• Organized and detail-oriented
