Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring a Oracle Database Administrator, Principal for an exciting opportunity located in Albany, Georgia.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Perform installation, configuration, management, and administration for an Oracle database environment. Including backup and recovery, security, application integration, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring. Integrate database management systems to operating systems, business applications, monitoring agents, risk mitigation agents, backup/recovery agents, network devices, virtual/cloud technologies, and storage devices. Work collaboratively with team members to migrate on premise or virtual/cloud hosted systems, data, and applications to new hosting facility.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Perform database installation, configuration, management, and administration for Oracle, Oracle Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Access Manager (OAM) WebLogic, Identity and Access Management (IDAM) solutions, Oracle Forms and Report, Single Sign-On (SSO), Oracle BI Publisher, Oracle Fusion Middleware, and Microsoft SQL Server IAW Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
  • Work with stakeholders, team members, and sponsors to manage Oracle database software over various operating system platforms, to include Windows, Red Hat Linux, VMWare/Azure or similar Virtual/Cloud technologies.
  • Assist in writing, editing and executing scripts to process data, and monitoring database performance.
  • Assist in writing, editing and maintaining database schemas.
  • Assist in building database instances to include control files, redo logs, archive log mode, and other required parameters.
  • Integrate Database Management System (s) (DBMS) and data with existing application software, web sites, portals, storage devices, virtual/cloud technologies, or business applications, as well as assisting and testing Disaster Recovery (DR) and Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP).
  • Recover from database failures, DBMS and data using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), and FLASHBACK or other designated recovery utilities.
  • Read/interpret database errors messages and execute recovery of database instance, data, or other pertinent database components. Engage Oracle support by submitting and monitoring the status of an Oracle Service Request via Meta/ink or similar tool.
  • Support virtual web hosting, virtual databases, and virtual management of DBMS(s).
  • Remotely administer database instances using secure shell, kernel-based virtual machine (KVM) over Internet Protocol (IP), and other remote access tools.
  • Implement DoD, Department of the Navy (DON), and Marine Corps mandated upgrades and security patches to the DBMS software, to include quarterly critical patch updates and patch set updates.
  • Analyze database error messages/alert logs and implementing corrective actions to resolve issues.
  • Manage, implement and configure Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), file systems, disks, zones, and other storage media on various storage devices in a Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID). In addition, implementing shared database file systems in a SAN/NAS/vSAN/Cloud environment.
  • Utilize ORACLE Enterprise Manager (OEM) or other designated tools to monitor and maintain the database environment.
  • Integrate DBMS(s) to operating system(s) (OS), business applications, monitoring agents, risk mitigation agents, backup/recovery agents, network devices, and storage devices.
  • Interpret error codes generated by log and system files from DBMS(s), OS(s), business applications, monitoring agents, risk mitigation agents, backup/recovery agents, network devices, virtual/cloud technologies, and storage devices.
  • Recommend and implement hardware, software, database, virtual/cloud, or network solutions to resolve problems.
  • Evaluate indicators from hardware or network devices and consistently implement a permanent resolution.
  • Analyze LUN(s), file systems, and storage zones to resolve issues.
  • Create/modify/update/close trouble tickets and work orders and to coordinate incident resolutions with the G6 Help Desk via a customer services solution.
  • Document procedures for database management and tasks utilizing smartbooks, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other relevant documentation processes; provide metrics and reports that show how databases are performing.
  • Implement an enterprise backup and recovery process using Cohesity and similar backup tools and software; implement backup policies to include OS(s), business applications, monitoring agents, risk mitigation agents, backup/recovery agents, network devices and storage devices; execute all levels of recovery procedures (simple to complex) ranging from data files, OS(s), business applications, monitoring agents, risk mitigation agents, network configurations, and storage configuration.
  • Maintain accurate library and documentation of storage media.
  • Implement backup policies as documented by standard service level agreements as well as assisting and testing DR and COOP.
  • Construct LUN(s), file systems and zones to support backup of OS(s), business applications, DBMS(s), file systems, data files, user files, network devices, and storage devices.
  • Assist and provide support to other team members and projects.
  • Create/modify/update/close trouble tickets and work orders and to coordinate incident resolutions with the G6 Help Desk via a customer services solution.

Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications

  • BS & 7 - 12 years experience
  • 8570 IAT ii Certification (EG: Sec +)
  • Must have Computing Environment (CE) certification in Oracle Database
  • Experience with Oracle, Oracle Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Access Manager (OAM) WebLogic, Identity and Access Management (IDAM) solutions, Oracle Forms and Report, Single Sign-On (SSO), Oracle BI Publisher, Oracle Fusion Middleware, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with implementing Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) to harden Oracle database solutions.
  • Experience managing Oracle database software over various operating system platforms, to include Windows, Red Hat Linux, VMWare/Azure or similar Virtual/Cloud technologies.
  • Experience writing, editing and executing scripts to process data, and monitoring database performance.
  • Experience writing, editing and maintaining database schemas.
  • Experience building database instances to include control files, redo logs, archive log mode, and other required parameters.
  • Experience recovering from database failures, DBMS and data using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), and FLASHBACK or other designated recovery utilities.
  • Ability to perform duties with little or no supervision

Minimum Clearance

  • Secret clearance (interim secret clearance is acceptable on a case by case basis)

Physical Requirements

  • Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Physical demands associated with this position may include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
