Summary Manages and coordinates activities of maintenance workers, to include refrigeration team, engaged in maintaining and repairing equipment by inspecting facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance. Preparing weekly maintenance schedules and allocating work. Recruiting, supervising, and training maintenance technicians. Undertake administrative tasks such as reporting and budgeting. The goal is to ensure company facilities are well cared for and adequate to support the company's business operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in directing workers engaged in building and refrigeration maintenance.
  • Requests tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Studies production schedules and needs to estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggests and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Assists in maintaining time and production records.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Performs other duties, as needed.
  • Manages, supervises, and executes maintenance as well as support activities 24/7 by assisting company site.
  • Assists with site environmental conformance as well as hazardous material programs.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate inventories of tools, supplies, and parts to accurately repair all equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining systems to supervise service requests promptly complying with safety requirements.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance work according to Hazard Communications program prerequisites.
  • Upholds cleanliness of shop and storage areas, ensures required inventory is stocked and organized following company inventory management program.

  • Regularly inspects machinery with respect to safety issues inclusive but not restricted to ground and trip hazards, non-functioning lights, broken pieces and exposed wiring.
  • Conducts proper follow-through on all maintenance issues.
  • Addresses and resolves resident maintenance issues in a timely manner, directing maintenance staff and coordinating Production and/or other involved personnel of affected areas.
  • Plans maintenance employees' schedules as per forecasted workloads.
  • Performs with maintenance employees along with other technical personnel to develop a proactive and effective team that works together to attain set objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with company safety and security standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Ensures maintenance personnel wear and utilize all safety equipment correctly.
  • Conducts safety inspections as scheduled and completes accurately as required.
  • Establishes priorities, goals, and expectations to prepare action strategies and plans to accomplish same working with team and communicates updates to leadership team as needed.
  • Develops maintenance procedures and ensures effective implementation.
  • Plans and oversees all repair and installation activities.
  • Assist in monitoring expenses and controls the budget for the maintenance department.
  • Manages relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Keeps accurate maintenance logs and reports on daily activities.

Manager Responsibilities

Assist with managing all maintenance employees. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, budgeting.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate from a vocational school or Bachelor's degree in facility management or related will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, motor controls, high and low voltage wiring and programmable logic controller
  • 24-hour emergency responder training and 8-hour yearly refresher training for emergency responder (HAZMAT)
  • Working knowledge of PSM program (Process Safety Management) and preventative maintenance program
  • Related experience in general maintenance, plumbing and electrical.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and E.P.A. regulations and requirements
  • Experience in a USDA meat processing facility.
  • Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.)
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations Understanding of budgeting and performance management
  • Excellent planning and leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of operating a computer and computer software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and basic Excel. Ability to utilize and manage PM program and track inventory parts.
