POSITION: Check-In Receptionist

DEPARTMENT: Front Office

REPORTS TO: Front Office Supervisor/Office Manager

Job Summary: This position is responsible for patient check-in, as well as treating all patients in a professional and courteous manner. Review patient chart to verify necessary information and signatures have been obtained. Enter new patient information into computer. Ensure the patient feels welcome to the practice and continues to return in order to receive top quality health care treatment. Verify/pre-certify insurance as needed.

Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two-years minimum experience in medical practice preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patient Check-Out
Responsible for patient check-out, greeting everyone in a pleasant and professional manner.
Track patients in the reception area and communicate with them, as needed.
Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signatures obtained.
Photocopy patients insurance card.
Insure that proper authorization or referral is collected from the patient.
Assist patients in obtaining authorization or referrals that have not been received by the practice.
Enter all new patient demographic information into the computer, and collect and enter information for WebSystem2.
Mark arrival time of patients in office and scheduled appointment time, and make sure patients are seen in a timely manner.
Put charts in bin for specific physician/technician.

2. Administrative
Place telephone calls to no-show appointments and reschedule as needed, with high priority given to medical/post-op no-shows.
Answer telephones and schedule appointments.
Responsible for all aspects of reception area (inspection for neatness, maintaining dcor including holiday/seasonal decorations, appropriate music/videos, etc).
Perform other duties, as required, including assisting with filing of charts.
Assist other front office personnel, as needed.
Back-up check-out in placing telephone calls to confirm upcoming appointments and verifying information required of the patient at the time of appointment.
