About this Role

The Maintenance Mechanic position is an important role on the Silgan Dispensing team and is a great opportunity for those looking to advance their skills. Our plant help produce thousands of our dispensing products each day. So, it’s important to keep it running efficiently and continuously. The Maintenance Mechanic keep our building running smoothly. It is a mutli -facet position, interacting with all the departments. Here’s a list of duties that our Maintenance Mechanic performs on a typical day:

  • Maintain and record the maintenance program for all Injection Molding Machines and the Associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintain an organize spare parts list and a reasonable inventory.
  • Responsible for the continuous operation of the facilities support system (including resin, distribution, chilled water, and compressed air).
  • Support the sites other maintenance teams (Assembly Mechanics & Trouble Shooters).
  • Assist the facilities group in the maintenance of the entire building.
  • Support the business unit with contributions to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified Candidates must have:

  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Some basic machinist skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret Engineer drawings/blueprints.
  • 3-5 years of industrial mechanic experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Candidates will have:

  • Willingness to assist other cross-functional groups based on needs.
  • Ability to work independently and be proactive.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and report data.
  • 2 plus years’ experience with injection machines
  • Ability to prioritize work is essential.
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands (Reasonable accommodations provided):

  • Ability to lift and/or move 35 lbs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
  • Physical requirements include but not limited to sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination and grasping.
