Job Title: Overnight Security Officer

Department: Security

Reports To: Security Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Safety Sensitive: Yes

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Security Manager and with input of the Ozanam Manor Management, the Overnight Security Officer is responsible for overseeing the security and safety of the main campus overnight. The Officer maintains a safe and secure environment for guests, volunteers, employees, and residents by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. The Officer seeks to prevent or de-escalate threatening situations and serves as an integral member of the Safety & Security team. They administer first aid treatment and other emergency care to sick or injured persons and assist with facilitating the transport to medical facilities in cases of life-threatening issues and/or death.

Specific Duties:

  • Provide excellent level of customer service and professionalism at all times while adhering to the mission, vision, and cultural expectations of St. Vincent de Paul.
  • Provide and establish physical Safety & Security presence to protect and maintain all property within the control of St. Vincent de Paul.
  • Take initiative to seek out measures to prevent dangerous situations on and around property.
  • Ability to handle both common and crisis situations. De-escalate threatening situations using Crisis Prevention and Intervention techniques.
  • Determines the nature and extent of illness and injury. Provide first aid or medical triage as needed.
  • Establishes priorities in order to determine procedures to be followed for emergency first aid or incident response; Request additional help, including Fire and/or Police depts.
  • Reports all medical incidents, accidents or emergencies to include completing a Daily Activity Log on every shift, describing all activities; Complete an Incident Report documenting any direct medical response calls on or off property.
  • Maintains all assigned equipment, inventory of supplies, and inspection of all Fire Lifesaving devices.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as appropriate
  • All other duties as assigned by Security Manager.
  • Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated *

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience Requirements:

  • Security and safety experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, not required.
  • Experience in social services preferred.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Desire to serve those in need
  • Understanding of nuances of working with volunteers
  • Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of up to 8-12 hours per day, bend and stoop frequently, and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.
