Responsibilities

  • Support project leaders and Managing Directors in preparing qualitative and quantitative analysis of key strategic, economic, and market analyses.
  • Contribute to client interaction via email and conference calls as appropriate.
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials for clients.
  • Prepare long-term forecast of wholesale power markets, capacity markets, ancillary services markets, power generators, and energy storage facilities.
  • Research and prepare data to continuously improve BRGs power models.
  • Perform statistical and economic analyses, data collection, and spreadsheet creation.
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solutions.
  • Prioritize assignments and responsibilities to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Works on other engagements for the broader BRG Energy & Climate practice as needed.
  • Assist senior staff with the development of time, schedule, and cost analysis.
  • Assist with preparation of expert reports including drafting, editing, and proofreading.
  • Participate in a team environment and meet client deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Assess technologies and analyze technology trends.
  • Possess a high degree of self-confidence and determination, and highly developed organization and time management skills.
  • Manage multiple time sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and slide presentation software.
  • Demonstrate strong conceptual, quantitative, and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in economics, mathematics, engineering, applied mathematics or a related quantitative-focused field. Candidates majoring in other fields must clearly demonstrate equivalent quantitative aptitude. Masters degree in any of the fields or closely related areas;
  • Minimum two to four (2-4) years of relevant work experience in North American power markets;
  • Experience in a consulting or professional environment supporting clients;
  • Working understanding of energy market dynamics, and a passion for learning;
  • Experience with market modeling approaches and tools (e.g., PROMOD, Plexos, or any other Production Cost Models);
  • Must have strong technical writing capabilities;
  • Experience with power financial modeling and analysis a plus; and
  • Experience in statistical analysis programs (e.g., Stata and R), Tableau, SQL, and financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg and S&P Capital IQ), with a desire to expand those capabilities.
