Special Education Teacher High School in Henryetta, OK - 2024-2025 School Year

As a Special Education Teacher for Severe and Profound students, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of high school students with plex disabilities, including those with severe behaviors. You will provide highly individualized instruction, support, and care to a small group of students, helping them develop essential life skills, munication abilities, and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide highly individualized instruction, support, and care to high school students with severe and profound disabilities, including those with severe behaviors, in self-contained classrooms.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students' unique learning needs, abilities, and goals, with a focus on functional life skills, munication, and behavior management.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials, instructional strategies, and assessments to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students with plex disabilities, including those with severe behaviors.
  • Utilize evidence-based behavioral interventions, positive behavior supports, and crisis prevention techniques to address and manage challenging behaviors effectively and promote students' social-emotional well-being and success.
  • Collaborate closely with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to supporting students' academic, munication, and behavioral needs.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe, valued, and respected, and where their individual strengths and abilities are celebrated.
  • Establish positive and collaborative relationships with students' families, providing regular munication, support, and resources to promote family involvement and partnership in their child's education and development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and engage in ongoing collaboration with colleagues to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting high school students with severe and profound disabilities, including those with severe behaviors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching license in Special Education (Oklahoma certification required).
  • At least 1 year of experience working with high school students with severe and profound disabilities, including those with severe behaviors.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices in instruction, assessment, behavior management, and crisis intervention for students with plex disabilities.
  • Excellent munication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Dedication to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive and reach their full potential.
