Salary:

Shipping Clerk/Heavy Haul Dispatcher 


Scope of Position: Working under the general direction of the supervisor or lead person performing a wide variety of duties associated with crating/packaging and loading equipment for transport.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Practice excellent customer service when interacting with internal and external customers to achieve a positive perception of the company. Saving external customer communication in the job files.
  • Coordinate movement of heavy haul loads, including obtaining required permits, routing, scheduling, and communicating with drivers, clients, and job sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to obtain correct dimensions and weights of units.  
  • Scheduling all outgoing and incoming FTL, LTL, and parcel shipments.
  • Manage customer relations by providing load status, delivery, and freight quotes in a timely manner, understanding how to accurately find and apply information regarding the unit weight, dimensions, destinations, and other factors that impact freight cost such as permitting, escorting, expediting, etc.
  • Accurately handle all freight claims in a timely manner.
  • Prepare, inspect, and verify all outgoing shipments:
    • Ensure all goods (units) are acceptable in terms of damage, quality, and aesthetics before crating/packaging.
    • Ensure all shipments receive the proper labeling.
    • Ensure all shipments are packaged/crated to arrive safely.
    • Ensure all shipments have been photographed with pictures properly documented and stored in the job folders.
  • Accurately prepare all BOLs, Customs Invoices, and Packing list in a timely manner.
  • Process all necessary transactions in the ERP to accurately track inventory, freight cost and price.
  • Keep supervisors aware of product shortages to maintain accurate shipping information.
  • Conforms to all Quality and Environmental Management System policies, objectives, and obligations.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Position Requirements:

  • Proven experience communicating and working with multiple departments (inside sales, production, purchasing, returns,) to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to identify process improvements with attention to detail.
  • Experience in following, updating, and creating SOPs and Process Improvement initiatives identified.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience with software such as Microsoft Excel and an ERP system.
  • Interpersonal skills are essential, as working as a team is vital to maintaining an organized Shipping Department
  • Able to solve problems with win-win solutions.
  • Able to prioritize daily tasks according to their importance and alignment with team goals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
