PRODUCTION CONTROL PLANNER

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a full-time Production Control Planner/Expeditor to work within our project teams. ESAero is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area and provides various services which include but are not limited to: rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Production Control Planner/Expeditor plans and coordinates the activities of product lines, projects and programs. The Production Control Planner/Expeditor will be responsible for tracking all aspects of project activities including but not limited to contractual requirements, deliverables, schedule, budget management, engineering/quality/operations coordination, and on-time-delivery. This highly energetic position will need to be detail orientated, have a passion for documentation, and work effectively with the project team as well as with all internal functional groups including Engineering, Operations, Quality, Contracts, Finance, Management, etc. Work with minimal instruction or supervision. Assembles and maintains a variety of information including, but not limited to: action items lists, program schedules, resource management, financial information, and certification documentation. This information ensures the proper documentation of a program’s progress and successful progression.

  • Primary responsibility is to coordinate the execution of the production portion of projects on the assembly floor in the Manufacturing facility.
  • vetting PR recommendations from MRP output 
  • Solve production plan execution problems.
  • Will work with Planning to ensure that work orders are released, built, and completed as committed.
  • Will work with project resources to ensure that work orders are pulled and available to be built on the production floor in support of the project plan.
  • Will assist the in the making of Work Orders.
  • Will handle the movement and documentation of materials rejected in W.I.P. and their replacement.
  • Will assist in the issuing of labor/material to and closing of Work Orders.
  • Will help prioritize work orders with operations leads to ensure Assembly and Test personnel are supporting the project schedule requirements.
  • Will work with Purchasing to resolve work order shortages.
  • Help coordinate implementation of engineering changes with Planning, Engineering and Purchasing.
  • Endeavor to identify and deal with obsolete material as it occurs.
  • Maintain logs on where outside process orders are and their schedules (what vendor has what, due when)
  • Help move parts from receiving to projects.
  • Assist in resource and capacity planning.
  • Assist in Cycle Counting.
  • Assist to maintain AS9100 QMS systems and process.
  • Aid in the entry of data and documentation to MRP system.
  • Responsible for actively promoting an ethics-based business culture in the project management organization, ensuring that all peers are aware of, and fully comply with, ESAero’s “Code of Ethics,” and related policies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • APICS training and/or certification is desirable.
  • Educated in ESD.

Education or Equivalent:

  • BA/BS degree desired.

  • Knowledge of operations, program management, project management, product development, and procurement desired.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing organization as a planner/expediter or material control specialist.
  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing is preferred.

Necessary Skills, Knowledge & Judgement:

  • Understand MRP requirements.
  • Ability to comprehend purchasing and inventory data in a computerized MRP system.
  • Familiarity with commercial electronics building practices and control methods desired
  • Experienced in Creating and Closing of Work Orders
  • Ability to write Protocols and Procedures for Production
  • Must be able to work in a small, effective materials team with minimum supervision
  • Take responsibility for the execution of the production plan and the integrity of the work order data
  • Ability to train others in the proper use of work orders and other inventory control methods
  • Understand the concept of capacity planning and the methods used to assess available capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and formulate and execute alternative plans when the need arises.
  • Ability to work well with others to accomplish tasks in support of the production plan and meet shipping deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in Excel and have some familiarity with SharePoint and ERP systems.
  • US Citizen

Preferred but not required:

  • Familiar with ISO9001/AS9100
  • Familiar with MS Project

Language Skills:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, customers suppliers, and leadership

Reasoning Ability:

  • Proven ability to analyze and solve problems. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

  • Should be able to lift to 40 lbs.

Experience:

  • Work will be conducted in a combination of office, manufacturing, engineering lab and test environments
