We are looking for a Commercial Boiler Assembler to join our team! This position will obtain required component parts using bill of materials and assemble large commercial cast iron boilers. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical aptitude and be able to read wiring diagrams.

This is a full-time, union-hourly position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM; Saturdays as needed, 5 AM - 11 AM.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Obtains all required material from stock for assembly of boilers.
  • Checks all sections before assembly (i.e. nipple ports, tapping, push nipples, etc. but not limited to)
  • Lubricate nipple ports and nipples prior to assembly.
  • Must be sure push nipples are tapped firm and square in nipple ports.
  • Required to install and gauge proper sealant around each section prior to pressing sections together.
  • Assembles each section together using heavy piece of timber until ground surface on outside of entire section is equally spaced ¼” to 3/8” apart.
  • When size required is attained, places vice grip pliers on draw up rods, using hydraulic jack to draw sections together.
  • As sections are drawn together, must check for cocked nipples which could cause leaks.
  • Hydrostatic test completed assemblies as ASME required standards. Check for leaks while under pressure.
  • When packaging is required, installs jacket, all fittings, and standard or special controls according to boiler prints furnished by Engineering Dept.
  • Tests controls when requested by Engineering Dept.
  • Performs related work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rates labor grade.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and/or diagrams a plus
  • Experience with measuring tools
