Special Education Teacher - Danville, VA
ProCare Therapy is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Danville, VA. As a contracted Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate with school staff, parents, and other professionals to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique abilities and challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide direct instruction to students, utilizing evidence-based instructional strategies and accommodations.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure the successful inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education setting.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and services provided.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and educational programming.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and other school-based initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid state Special Education Teacher certification.
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
