Job Title:

Materials Quality Engineering Team Lead

Job Description:

The Role:

We are currently seeking a Materials Quality Engineering Team Lead to join our team inAurora, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and leading the Inorganic Materials and Contract Manufacturers North America team that proactively manages and delivers consistent raw materials to our manufacturing teams and drives continuous quality improvements in the raw material supply chain. You should be a subject matter expert in your given material category and will work closely with your team to develop new skills and process knowledge. You will support your teams development and execution on raw material related issues with suppliers, end-users and internal customers.

What You'll Do:

  • Own supplier interactions and management for raw materials in their given category including being the primary technical resource/lead for supplier corrective actions, audits and scorecards.
  • Support and develop the team on their supplier interaction and management for raw materials
  • Drive on-time root cause analysis and corrective action for deficiencies for their own suppliers while also leading and developing their team in the same area.
  • Provide leadership during problem resolution events and management of change opportunities
  • Be a technical expert for a given raw material category and be able to mentor team members on those skills
  • Build effective working relationships with key individuals at all suppliers and with internal stakeholders to influence quality, variation reduction and cost improvement projects
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement plans on key raw material supply chains including, when appropriate, six sigma projects
  • Responsible for meeting established goals and metrics set by the Divisional Materials Quality Manager with a major focus on quality and productivity with all suppliers
  • Support customer facing team for customer audits and questionnaires and R&D for New Product Development inquiries on raw materials
  • Champion and support all corporate EH&S and Quality initiatives.

This role requires 10-15% travel.

What We Seek:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering; Masters preferred, PhD and/or MBA a plus
  • Knowledge of six-sigma required; six-sigma Green Belt and Quality Management Systems training preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in a Chemicals or Materials production environment, experience within semiconductor industry a plus
  • Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor preferred
  • Solid operations or R&D background in chemical or materials manufacturing environment with core competency in any/all of the following: research and development, supply chain management, manufacturing, quality, and/or production management
  • Business acumen: ability to identify and understand the relevant business drivers and translate them in actionable operational activities
  • Talent Development: ability to discover training needs and provide coaching, listen to team members' feedback and resolve issues and conflicts, encourage creativity and create an inspiring team environment with open communication
  • Analytical: skill in applying statistics to seize opportunities, including SPC/SQC, Six Sigma, Measurement System Analysis, Analytical Methods and Metrology
  • Leadership: capability to build relationships, lead and motivate teams and drive activity through a balance of influence and inspiration
  • Communications: skill in concise and clear verbal and written communications and experience with front line supplier and customer interactions
  • Systems Thinking: experience with implementing Quality Management Systems to support business growth
  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing processes, supplier and customer interactions
