Job Description

If you’ve clicked on this job posting, you may already know who we are/what we do at Disability Resources Inc. (DRI for short) but if you don’t, we want to share our mission with you! Chances are, if you’re checking out this post, you’ve taken a look at several others. So what makes us different? Why should you want to work at DRI? Below, we’ve done our best to answer some of those questions and would love a chance to answer any other questions you may have!

  • What is DRI?

In short, we are a group home for developmentally disabled adults, or as we lovingly call them, the folks. Our mission is to provide exceptional care in a Christian environment. We strive to foster independence, purpose, growth, and happiness in everything that we do for our folks. Quality of care is HUGE, but what is even bigger to us is quality of life.

  • What makes DRI a great place to work?

Our inclusive atmosphere encourages individuality in our employees as well as our folks. Each of us are different, we have diverse backgrounds, our own outlook on life, and our folks are no different. We seek out candidates that have positive attitudes and a teamwork driven mentality. It takes a number of incredible people to make DRI a great place for our folks to live and we make it a priority to ensure our staff feel valued and heard. We feel strongly that if we take care of our employees, they take excellent care of our folks and our business.

  • What does a “normal” day in this position look like?

The scheduled shift for this position is Monday-Friday from 6 a.m-2 pm. A typical day in this role begins with a report from the overnight shift advising of any necessary updates on the previous shift.

A typical morning routine consists of making sure our folks are dressed and ready for the Activity Center, morning medication pass, and serving breakfast. Some assistance from staff is required for bathing & dressing, but the goal is for our folks to complete as many tasks as they are able with minimal assistance. Upon completing morning routine, the House Manager accompanies the folks off at the Activity Center at 8:30 a.m. Where they will be working with a group of folks until 2pm this will take place 3 days a week on a rotation schedule. 2 days out of the week the house managers will be on the home doing things such as cleaning, grocery shopping, ordering supplies and anything else they need to catch up on for the week.

  • What does training look like for this position?

Prior to working on the home, new hires complete 6 Modules of Mental Health Wellness for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (MHW-IDD) and 12-Minute Trainer Modules (including Abuse & Neglect, HIPAA, Detecting Depression, & Resident Rights). The computer training modules typically take 8-12 hours depending on the speed at which you work.

CPR Certification class will be scheduled for new hires who are not currently CPR certified and must be completed before working alone. There will be a minimum of 3 days of scheduled training with the Director of Residential Services and additional training days available if needed. New hires will additionally attend a Medication Class that is taught by our team of Registered Nurses and must be passed off on medications within 30 days of completing the Medication Class. After training is completed numerous resources and contacts are available if any questions or concerns arise. We encourage our staff to ask questions and strive to continually maintain an open door policy.

  • What does it pay & what benefits does DRI offer?

The hourly rate for the Full-Time, House Manager position is $15 an hour and payday is bi-weekly. Because this is a full time position, benefits are also available!

DRI provides 7 hours a month for Vacation time and 8 hours a month of Sick Leave for full time employees. These hours accrue from day 1 of employment and are available for use after the new hire successfully completes their 60 day introductory period.

DRI also has medical insurance available through Blue Cross Blue Shield where we are on an aged based HMO plan. Premiums vary based on the age of the candidate and DRI pays $300 per month for medical insurance. To give a general idea of what premiums will cost after DRI contributes, on our highest premium option at 30 years old, $35.52 per month would be the responsibility of the employee.

Dental, vision, and several other supplementary options are available for the employee to enroll in at affordable prices. Dental insurance is $13.92 per check for employee only and Vision insurance is $4.15 per check!

We also provide 401k match up to 3% after the employee has worked full time for DRI for 6 months.

Additional information on benefits can be provided during the phone screening process or an in person interview.

  • What does the hiring process look like for this position?

After applications are received and screened, candidates that we would like to move forward to the next step in the interview process will receive an email to set up a phone screening. After successfully completing a phone screening, if we choose to move forward with the candidate we will then set up an in person interview that includes a tour of our campus so that applicants have an opportunity to get a clear understanding of who we are and what we do. This process is intended to be a conversation where applicants have an opportunity to ask any questions they may have. As much as this is an opportunity for us to see if you are a good fit for our team, it’s an opportunity for our applicants to make sure we’re a good fit for you!

We would love to speak with you about the possibility of joining our team, so click that apply button and feel free to give Naomi a call at 325-232-6904 after submitting your application!
