Hybrid/ Job combines on-site work in LA and Orange County with some remote flexibility.


NOTE: Maximum range is provided as an example of the wage/salary range for each position and its earning capacity given factors such as time in position, longevity with the company education level, and performance experience. Newly entering employees should expect to enter at the minimum to midrange level, and not the cap which is for employees with tenure and above level skill sets in that position.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To conduct assistive technology assessments and provide training, and support services for individuals with disabilities served through the Assistive Technology Exchange Center. The individual will provide extensive assistive technology evaluations of these individuals, providing written evaluations and recommendations for assistive technologies; research, develop, obtain funding, and implement appropriate assistive technology services, which meet the personal, social, and vocational needs of persons with disabilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs individualized assistive technology assessment utilizing ATEC’s protocol and prepares a formal written evaluation report, which includes recommendations. Interacts with representatives from referring/funding agency to coordinate services. Prepares concise, accurate documentation in a timely manner. Researches and maintains inventory of AT/AAC devices. Documents all recommendations, evaluations, and services. Evaluates client referrals and establishes an effective individual assistive technology program plan for the accomplishment of each client’s goals. Conducts necessary research to determine the best match in assistive technology to the needs of the client. Prepares evaluation and follow-up reports for program participants, referral/funding sources, and families. Uses appropriate data collection procedure for reviewing program and quality assurance issues. Delivers concise and accurate verbal reports to staff and families in team conferences. Performs installation of hardware and software on computers and assistive technology devices and resolves user problems in a timely manner. Consults with other staff members as appropriate on issues in their area(s) of particular experience or qualification. Provides outreach and marketing activities to other public and private referral/funding agencies. Effectively manages client caseload and adheres to GIOC’s program performance standards, including individual goals and objectives. Attends AT Conferences for professional development and continued education. Drives GIOC or personal vehicle as required (LA and Orange County areas). Attends all meetings as required. Performs other job related duties as required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree or equivalent in Communication Disorders. Valid California State License for Speech Language Pathology or eligibility for licensure. Current assistive technology certification/credential from a nationally recognized education/professional institution or the eligibility to sit for the examination. Two years of experience in provision of assistive technology services preferred but not required. Knowledge of assistive technology computers and software, as well as community resources. Capable of safely performing functions indigenous to the position, including assisting in the handling of participants. Experience working with people with disabilities and ability to work cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team, as well as other staff members.
