Position Title: Intern – Diesel Equipment Mechanic

Compensation:

Part-Time, Temporary, $20.00/hour

Scope & Responsibilities of Intern – Diesel Equipment Mechanic: (Not limited to)

  • Assisting in maintenance and mechanical work on fleet vehicles, heavy equipment and other motorized &/or portable equipment.
  • Assisting in inspecting vehicle framework, suspension, lighting, exhaust and associated components to meet registration requirements.
  • Assisting in performing variety of vehicle body repairs including panel replacements, welding, painting &/or refinishing.
  • Assist in administering paperwork and processes associated with DOT inspections, Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS) and Daily Operations Checklist amongst others.
  • Assist in troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
  • Carry out other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

Education & Experience for Intern – Diesel Equipment Mechanic:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited higher education program with preference given to candidates with a focus in Diesel Mechanics.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher and be available to work up to 40 hours per week consistently.

Other Qualifications of Intern – Diesel Equipment Mechanic:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, customers, vendors, ARG personnel and others.
  • Follow good housekeeping practices to keep work areas clean and orderly; maintain neat, legible, and accurate records.
  • Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word and Outlook as well as other applicable software. In addition, demonstrated ability in any applicable software.

Successfully complete all company mandated safety &/or job-related training programs deemed appropriate.

Physical & Cognitive Demands of Intern – Diesel Equipment Mechanic:

  • COGNITIVE DEMANDS: Meet deadlines, focus attention, work independently, work with a team, perform repetitive tasks, spatial relations, communicating, interpreting, organizing, reading comprehension, critical thinking troubleshooting.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Seeing, speaking, hearing, sitting, walk/climb, stand/reach, listen, writing, driving, keyboarding, push/pull/lift/carry or otherwise transport 50 pounds.
  • May work overtime, holidays, weekends, scheduled time off and/or shift work as required to support refinery operations.
