MECHANIC
Monday - Friday
7:00 am - 4:00 pm
$18.00 - $28.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform tasks to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings and schematics.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machine components.
- Knowledge and use of fork trucks and all lifting devices and the safe operation relative to employees and equipment.
- Knowledge and ability to weld.
- Ability to repair equipment with minimal disruption to production.
- Knowledge in the use of machine tools.
- Ability to maintain and repair central coolant systems.
- Proper movement, control and reclamation of hazardous waste.
- Assembles, dismantles, repairs and installs industrial machinery and equipment used in the production of steel;
- Work is performed using a wide range of hand and power tools, hoists, cranes and forklift;
- Performs scheduled inspection and maintenance
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements and adjusts functional parts of equipment by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Controls downtime through use of effective routine preventive maintenance techniques.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Perform shop arithmetic, including geometry and advanced math
- 5 years of Millwrighting experience
- Ability to read blueprints, charts, graphs, and diagrams
- Ability to weld, cut and torch metal
- Ability to shear, bend and form sheet metal
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair company equipment
- Ability to work safely with a variety of chemicals and lubricants
