JOB SUMMARY:

This Designer/Drafter is responsible for developing and reviewing drawings in support of our technical proposals to customers as well as the fabrication and execution of our projects. This person will collaborate with sales, application engineering, project management, engineering, customers and external fabricators develop design concepts and engineering documents.

  • Researches and reviews project requirements and design information to determine if it is sufficient to complete the design while ensuring that the design concept can be met.
  • Assists with the preparation of standard engineering documents and calculations, using Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor, and Vault for drafting and design purposes.
  • Coordinates with other Project Managers and Engineers to establish essential functions and
    deadlines necessary to finish specific projects.
  • Determines appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to
    the client’s requirements, a standard template designed for the specific type of work, or by
    updating an existing CAD file.
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, existing and proposed characteristics, and other design data to plan and design projects.
  • Completes the drawing process using the information contained within the documents and in line with the Scope of Work; make necessary corrections to existing drawings following quality review process.
  • Reviews drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting
    standards.
  • Assists project managers with preparation of work scopes and estimates for projects.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

An associate degree in Drafting or CAD Technology with 3-5 years of experience; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the
job such as those listed above (8 years of demonstrated experience in a mechanical engineering field
in lieu of degree). Working knowledge & experience with Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor) is required.
Prior experience in the Engineering design, and ASME pressure vessel manufacturing industry is helpful.
