Job Description

Director of Engineering

Fairmont Orchid Hawaii is looking for a dynamic leader who is highly organized and capable of providing leadership, guidance and direction in achieving the hotel’s vision and mission. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Engineering will be responsible for implementing project management skills, Accor engineering and work standards to oversee a multi-million dollar investment plan.

What you will be doing: 

• Strategically lead the Engineering and Landscaping teams in their longer term and day to day responsibilities.
• Facilitating a high level of engagement and performance within the Engineering and Landscaping teams.
• Ensuring that front of house, heart of house, and infrastructure facilities are well maintained and comply with luxury standards to maintain enhanced guest satisfaction and enjoyment.
• Collaboratively liaise with other departments on their Engineering & Landscaping requirements.
• Participate fully in the senior leadership team and in doing so chart the strategic direction for Fairmont Orchid
• An active and visible leader, the DOE will continuously inspect areas throughout the resort to immediately resolve safety and quality concerns.
• Develop and manage the departments operating budget, forecasts and financial responsibilities.
• Clearly understand the expectations and physical and service deliverables that are reflective of a luxury resort.
• Maintaining compliance of fire, electrical, plumbing codes and health, sanitation, OSHA, ADA and other regulatory requirements.
• Build operational efficiency through proactive management of maintenance needs in all areas including tracking accurate controls for guest rooms and public areas.
• Oversight of preventative maintenance program for front of house, heart of house, mechanical and infrastructure.
• Full comprehension of job assignments & manufacturer direction of the hotels equipment
• Project management accountability for capital and other projects.
• Leading planning for long range investment and efficiency opportunities.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• Previous Engineering experience in a comparable leadership role within a similar hotel brand or operation.
• Exceptional technical skills and knowledge in managing complex and diverse facilities
• Strong relator with ability to build collaborative relationships.
• Strategic, creative and able to communicate effectively.
• A proven leader who is able to inspire others and drive change.
• Strong business acumen and demonstrated success in driving business.
• Must have professional working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and Hot water generation systems including devices such as pressure regulators, solenoid valves, gas valves, electrical relays, etc.
• Must be a master of OSHA work place safety standards such as PPE, Lock Out Tag Out, Ladder Safety, HAZCOM and similar.
• Valid Driver’s License

Additional Information

Salary Range: $160,000 USD - $180,000 USD

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
