Purpose of Position:

Supervise and oversee the activities of forklift maintenance mechanics that perform repairs, and maintenance on all equipment (forklifts, jacks, aerial lifts, and heavy equipment).

Accountabilities:

  • Develop work assignments using knowledge of mechanics capabilities, and equipment.
  • Update and distribute PM’s, verify completion and approval.
  • Act as a resource, offering on-going assistance to mechanics, monitor job performance and task to help where needed.
  • Strong communication skills with the rest of the team in order to accomplish team goals.
  • Conduct new hire trainings, monthly safety tailgate meetings, work area inspections and GMP/ food safety training.
  • Inspection and reporting on VIR completion.
  • Create/update training SOPs on all tasks performed.
  • Works with a weekly budget for forklift repair.
  • Maintain a detailed maintenance log and report on all daily maintenance activities. Send daily report via email to the rest of the team.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks and activities to ensure lifts efficiency.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to forklift maintenance staff and personnel.
  • Carry out performance evaluations and appraisals.
  • Work with purchasing team on orders for replacement parts.
  • Build a healthy work environment for all personnel.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • 7-10 years maintenance mechanic experience
  • Knowledge of forklift maintenance
  • Good verbal/written communication skills
  • Prior experience supervising employees.
  • Trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to understand and carry out routine written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic system schematics.
  • Ability to properly use normal and special tools.
  • Ability to work standing and walking for the majority of the assigned work period.
  • Ability to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk and reach above shoulder.
  • Ability to exert 50-75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force constantly.
