Purpose
How does the position contribute to the success of the operation, division and company?The Storeroom Clerk/Buyer is responsible for goods issue, receiving, shipping, and replenishing the Storeroom.Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations and Performance Measures What measures or metrics will the individual be measured on and what level of performance is required?  Other duties may be assigned.Storeroom Duties:
  • Check out storeroom items to production associates on a walk-up basis.
  • Input checkout items utilizing SAP goods issue program on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Check freight slips against materials being delivered; note any damage or shortages on the freight bill.
  • Unpack and check-in freight delivered by delivering carriers daily. Compare purchase order to the packing slip; make notations for all discrepancies.
  • Remove and discard all packaging materials after stocking.
  • Enter accurate received data into SAP.
  • Communicate with Master Data to acquire new part numbers when requested.
  • Inform Procurement Manager of obsolete items.
  • Assist accounting with additional information when needed utilizing SAP Open text program.
  • Research and correct receiving discrepancies.
  • Stock parts and supplies in their properly designated area or storage bin location.
  • Assist maintenance and production people as needed to provide good customer service and expedited support.
  • Acquire parts locally when needed.
  • Responsible for performing cycle count inventory for all storeroom materials weekly.
  • Track inventory variances from cycle counts and report to Procurement Manager at completion of each cycle count.
  • Reorganize storeroom items when needed, consisting of moving products, adding or removing shelves as needed.
  • Perform general housekeeping in storeroom areas. Keep all aisles and floors clean as possible and clear of all items.
  • Expedite parts and supplies that are not readily available.
  • Manage storeroom; Order assigned parts and items when needed and expedite in a timely manner as to not interrupt the normal production of this facility.
  • Remove all shipments that day from receiving area before end of the day.
  • Keep Flammable fluids in proper storage containers.
  • Work closely with MRO buyer to ensure all critical storeroom parts are added and maintained.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Buyer Duties:
  • After issues are entered and inventory adjustments are made. Run purchasing report and order items that SAP system request.
  • Responsible for competitive purchasing of materials and supplies by comparative pricing, checking availability and potential cost savings to assure obtaining a quality product at the lowest possible cost.
  • Issue PO to vendors, and confirm orders once acknowledged.

Administrative and other Duties:
  • Scan all receivers into the proper PO in SAP.  Have new receivers scanned in within a week.
  • Prepare UPS, Fed-Ex, and L.T.L. freight for shipment (such as items being sent in for repair, samples being sent for the sales department, etc.).
  • Stock and Provide UPC and warning Labels for production needs.
  • Keep production forms copied and ready when production needs them.
  • Learn and cover for MRO Buyer when they are on Vacation or when needed.
  • Learn to count MRO – Plant items when MRO buyer is on Vacation or when needed.

What skills/certification/education must the individual have/maintain/gain?  Include any degrees, certifications, and licenses required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Forklift experience is preferred. 
  • Ability to communicate with customers, suppliers, co-workers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent memory retention.
  • Possess strong ethical values.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control.
  • Basic knowledge of items to be purchased.
  • Basic shipping and receiving knowledge.
  • Organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including SAP, Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Office Outlook.
  • Knowledge and skill in using and operating various types of office equipment. Such as computer, printer, scanner, telephone, facsimile, copy machine.
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

What working conditions or physical functions are normally required to perform the essential functions of the job?The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
