Senior Tax Analyst - ASC 740

Remote or Hybrid Colorado

The Senior Tax Analyst will be Primarily responsible for preparation of annual and quarterly ASC 740 tax provision financial reporting and for assisting with due diligence, integration of acquired companies, and separation of disposed businesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Timely preparation of the annual and quarterly ASC 740 income tax provisions, reconciliation of tax accounts, and tax disclosures required for SEC-style financial statement reporting.
  • Responsible for scheduling and process documentation related to income tax provision.
  • Manage the Corptax Provision application with a focus on developing strategies for making consistent improvements to the system to better leverage GMR's workpapers and to achieve greater process efficiencies.
  • Assist with ensuring SOX 404 internal controls over ASC 740 are well-designed and operating effectively and documenting controls were performed.
  • Provide information as requested in order to help ensure timely and accurate tax-related information is provided to internal departments and outside auditors.
  • Assist with all tax aspects of purchase accounting under ASC 805 and ASC 740 related to GMR mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or dispositions, including evaluation of goodwill and intangibles to ensure appropriate tax treatment.
  • Assist with tax due diligence, deal structuring, planning, and integration for all GMR transactions related to M&A and joint ventures. This includes federal, state and local, and international aspects of transactions.
  • Assist tax department compliance and audit teams, on an as needed basis, with review/preparation of federal, state income tax returns and tax audits.
  • Stay current regarding tax law, tax-related GAAP, and SEC regulation changes to ensure GMR's adherence to requirements and determine the related tax impact as needed.
  • Enhance professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars and reviewing professional publications.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • S. in Accounting (M.S. in Taxation and/or CPA/CPA candidate preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years professional experience in large public companies and/or Big 4 public tax consulting.
  • Heavy federal and multi-state corporate tax experience including tax provision required
  • Corptax Provision tax software experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with large M&A activity preferred.
  • Healthcare industry experience a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with assistance when needed.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, self-motivated, and value-added driven.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong cross-departmental relationship skills.
  • Strong organization, project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands on, detail oriented, strong tax accounting and research skills, including account reconciliation and analysis of book/tax differences.
  • Advanced computer skills, Microsoft Office (with a high proficiency in Excel specifically), tax research software (e.g., RIA, BNA). Experience with Corptax tax provision and compliance software strongly preferred.
