Job Summary:

Under general supervision, installs, maintains and repairs various types of air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and systems; performs maintenance, repairs and calibration on heating and air conditioning control devices company wide.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties as assigned)

  • Inspect and examine heating/refrigeration and air-conditioning, air compressors, and all auxiliary equipment to locate defects in operations, disassembles unit and restore to operating condition.
  • Repair or replace condensers, compressors, pumps, valves, motors, bearings, belts and other parts.
  • Ability to recycle and charge refrigerants as required. Inspect and test refrigeration systems, safety devices, and control for efficiency of operation and compliance with safety practice and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and take corrective action for major malfunction and breakdowns of heating/refrigeration and air-conditioning systems pumps, air handlers, fans ducts, dampers and grills.
  • Install, repair and maintain major heating/refrigeration and air-conditioning units, coils, fans, subsystems and components parts; perform welding and soldering as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, shop drawing and technical manuals.
  • Repair and adjust pneumatic controls, lines and fittings, change filters and belts, lubricate and oil equipment according to manufactures specification and industry standards.
  • Adheres to a preventive maintenance schedule for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment; troubleshoots malfunctioning systems or equipment.
  • Cleans coils and other parts, oils fans, changes filter, adjusts air flow and replaces gas or fluid in system.
  • Observes operation sequence of refrigeration system and makes necessary adjustments to control level of fluid, pressure, or temperature in the system.
  • Determines parts and equipment needed for maintenance and repair work and submits job estimates; fabricates, erects, and maintains sheet metal duct work; tests, calibrates, and repairs thermostats.
  • May order parts and supplies as needed; perform related work on all related and auxiliary HVAC systems and components.
  • May be required to assist in facility emergencies after hours (but compensated for time).
  • A general knowledge of automotive equipment is preferred, plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry is needed.
  • 100% field engagement

Required Experience and Education:

High School Diploma or /GED

Four years of increasing responsible experience performing work in installing, maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding non-residential refrigeration and air conditioning systems and related equipment.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:

  • Computer software: Microsoft Office to include Word, and Outlook. Excel and CDK a plus.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.

Physical Exertion:

  • Performs physically demanding work that requires bending, stooping, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs., working in close quarters, climbing ladders, reaching overhead to make repairs and perform certain tasks including using power and pneumatic tools, and sufficient manual dexterity and vision to perform maintenance and repairs on heating and cooling equipment

Environmental Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a dealership setting (lot, showroom, service department and offices).
  • Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.

Hazards and Safety Precautions:

  • Hazards: Slips, trips and falls, ergonomic injuries, and occasional lifting.
  • Safety Precautions: Breaks are encouraged to allow for stretching and training is provided covering slips, trips, and falls, safe lifting and stretching techniques.
