Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the cleanliness and organization of all guest rooms assigned to him/her on his/her shift
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stock housekeeping cart Duties include: check the supplies list and stock accordingly, sign in and out your housekeeping keys.
- Remove all garbage and soiled linen.
- Clean sink, toilet, tub, shower wall and floor.
- Make beds. Change sheets according to guest wishes (if card left on bed then change sheets) for stay overs, and daily on check outs.
- Dust all tables, drawers, pictures, headboards, TV, chairs, coat racks, lamps, hvac, safes, conditioner, back of entrance door, phone and night stands with damp rag. Clean mirrors windows, window sills, curtain rods, furniture, and luggage racks.
- Furnish rooms with all the necessary items.
- Change any burned out lights (ceiling lights make out maintenance slip).
- Change blankets, pad and bedspreads when needed. Make note on chart
- Sweep, look for maintenance repairs that are needed, check for lost and found items, close windows and lock, curtains close to about 1/2 way and turn off lights.
Side duties include: Sweep the hallway in front of the assigned rooms, clean off housekeeping cart of all dirty linen, trash and glasses, restock cart in storage room and check with the supervisor before clocking out
The number of rooms cleaned per day will vary, but the total time to clean a room should average 25 minutes or less. Including daily chores.
Physical Demands: Entire working day involves 45% bending, 45% lifting and 10% walking. Other physical demands include bending and lifting blankets, bedspreads and linen ranging in weight of 10 - 15 pounds, pushing housekeeping carts that range in weight form 40 pounds unstocked to 80 pounds stocked, pulling furniture away from guest room walls - the furniture ranging in weight from 75-100 pounds, and considerable arm, forearm, wrist, shoulder and back movement during dusting, vacuuming, mattress flipping and cleaning various parts of all guest rooms.
