Position Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (details of the basic job functions):

Provides Business consultative advice for a group of owner/operators associated with an assigned independent contracted Approved Auto Repair (AAR) and Battery network to ensure they meet and/or exceed established AAA National and Club Automotive Standards. Required to live in the state of Wisconsin or Illinois. Salary range based on experience, $56,014.00 - $74,692.00.

Extends business consultative advice and recommendations to repair facilities and battery service providers in relationship to industry best practices including the use of new technologies, financial reports, profit and loss statements, identification of cost efficiencies and customer relationship management (CRM). Develop reports to pinpoint areas of performance and trends requiring additional support/training to achieve goals of department (i.e. tester data, customer service index and acknowledging repair shop portal). Trains new battery technicians as needed and shares best practices with team on a regular basis.

Works closely with contact center teams to increase awareness of AAR and battery programs.

Promotes new products and services for members.

Initiates, coordinates and implements activities associated with the maintenance and continuous improvement of programs. Ensures both AAA and Club established program standards are met and or exceeded.

Evaluates/investigates prospective facilities, provides information on AAR, and makes recommendations regarding facility appointments/cancellations to Automotive Services management. Provides ongoing feedback to management regarding quality of service provided by the AAR facility. Conducts on-site reviews of club AAR facilities to ensure compliance with AAA service standards and recommended practices.

Assists members with complaints and repair disputes. Consults with industry and state agencies concerning complaints and repair related issues. Prepares activity reports and maintains files such as inspection reports, complaints, etc. May perform other duties as assigned.

Attend Regional Field staff meetings. Report performance of both programs and work closely with Field Reps to improve program acumen and service levels. Visit facilities on regular basis as representative of ACG.

Performs Quality Assurance by conducting in-field ride-alongs, facility visits, vehicle inspections, mystery shopping and works closely with individual battery service techs or facility owners to maintain high levels of testing performance and integrity.

Works on various projects and conducts branch presentations to improve department efficiency as well as continuing to heighten program awareness.

Supervisory Responsibilities (briefly describe, if applicable, or indicate None):

No direct staff, but responsible for oversight of a network of assigned areas of responsibility, including ensuring AAA National and Club Automotive standards are met and or exceeded.

II. Required Qualifications (these are the minimum requirements to qualify)

Education (include minimum education and any licensing/certifications):

  • High School diploma, GED or Technical school graduate/certification
  • Possession of a good driving record and a valid State driver's license.

Experience:

  • Three to five years of administrative and/or Automotive Service experience
  • Analyzing reports and financial statements in conjunction with coaching business owners
  • Evaluating operational needs and business practices related to service quality, financial viability and operational issues
  • Managing vendor/supplier relationships
  • investigate prospective facilities for the program and make recommendations regarding the appointment of such facilities
  • explain service standards to contracted repair personnel
  • conduct inspections of facilities in order to ensure compliance with established standards
  • utilize automated visit and inspection log to document visits, recruit and secure contracts with potential facilities
  • Resolving customer service issues
  • Communicating effectively with others in a team/individual work environment and with the public (e.g. customers and contracted repair facilities) regarding standards, policies and procedures
  • Establishing necessary reporting and control systems
  • Maintaining files and records (e.g. facility inspection reports, member complaints, AAR applications, battery tester inventory, consignment and data)
  • Completing activity reports (e.g. member usage, member satisfaction ratings)
  • Working independently of supervision

Knowledge and Skills:

  • AAA systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word Power Point and other computer based programs
  • Policies and procedures regarding the AAR and Battery programs
  • Computerized repair information systems (e.g. Mitchell On-Demand)
  • Repair industry procedures, practices, rates and facility insurance requirements
  • State and Federal repair certification requirements
  • Ability to deal effectively with AAR station owners, ACG Fleet Management, and independent Battery Service contract station owners and managers.
  • Effective relationship management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of spelling, grammar and punctuation; ability to compose routine business correspondence and calculate/compile numerical material

III. Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Communications or a related field, is preferred.
  • Technical training in automotive repair, ASE certification in Engine Performance (A8) and Auto Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6).
  • Investigating, analyzing and resolving member complaints
  • Quality assurance

IV. Work Environment

Frequent (up to 70%) travel required with exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes.
