CA Lawton in Minter OH is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor.  This position is CA Lawton’s lead electrician and lead furnace technician, and is responsible for effective maintenance and timely repair in these critical areas.  The Supervisor is also responsible for maintenance staff development and training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for managing assigned projects and crew member(s) involved.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play the leading role in maintaining electrical system
  • Establish and ensure implementation of well-defined PM schedule(s)
  • Evaluate breakdowns, establish root causes, and design and implement repair solutions
  • Maintain an inventory of critical electrical parts; work with and through the Maintenance Planner to ensure critical electrical parts are on hand
  • Meet with vendors and sub-contractors as needed to develop quotes, direct work, and monitor results to ensure that they conform to our requirements
  • Enhance collective knowledge base by feeding experiences back into the TPM, PM, and electrician training processes and systems
  • Provide leadership to all issues relating to the integrated organization’s electrical systems from day-to-day operations and maintenance to meetings with vendors to top management discussions and decision-making regarding capacities, capabilities, and capital.
  • Play the leading role in maintaining  furnaces
  • Establish and ensure implementation of well defined PM schedule(s);  review and evaluate PMs and inspection sheets completed every shift by the furnace operators
  • Evaluate breakdowns, establish root causes, and design and implement repair solutions
  • Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts;  work with and through the Maintenance Planner to ensure critical spare parts are on hand
  • Meet with vendors and sub-contractors as needed to develop quotes, direct work, and monitor results to ensure that they conform to our requirements
  • Enhance collective knowledge base by feeding experiences back into the TPM, PM, and furnace technician training processes and systems
  • Provide leadership to all issues relating to the furnaces from day-to-day operations and maintenance to meetings with vendors to top management discussions and decision making regarding capacities, capabilities, and capital.
  • Play the leading role in developing the maintenance crew’s skills and technical abilities so that they may all become highly proficient in the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of  facilities, equipment, and support systems
  • In conjunction with the Maintenance Superintendent, develop an inventory of essential skills that maintenance staff must possess
  • Evaluate current skill sets and identify gaps between existing and inventoried skills
  • Develop a training plan for each maintenance crew member to include skill(s) to be developed, training method(s) to be used, training budget, and timetable
  • Provide needed training (and re-training) and/or secure and manage outside training resources
  • Work with the Human Resources department to document the training completed by each Maintenance crew member
  • Continuously evaluate training plans and programs for maximum effectiveness in meeting stated goals and objectives.
  • Work as needed with foundry production workers, department Supervisors, and Maintenance staff to analyze all equipment and system breakdowns, determine root causes, and determine necessary corrective actions.
  • Provide opinions and recommendations, based on experience and expertise, to all questions and projects relating to the foundry’s facilities, equipment, and support systems.
  • Provide advice and support on electrical issues to the machine shop and pattern shop.
  • Stand in for the Maintenance Superintendent in his/her absence
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:      High school diploma as a minimum; prefer Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a definite plus

Experience:    Minimum of ten years of maintenance experience in an iron foundry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

Knowledge

  • Expert level knowledge of electric furnaces and iron foundry electrical systems
  • Expert level of knowledge about the proper operation, repair, and maintenance of iron foundry facilities, equipment, and support systems
  • Strong knowledge about Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Preventive Maintenance, and related maintenance management concepts
  • Working knowledge of information systems required to perform the job.

  • Strong project management skills
  • Solid written and oral communication skills, especially relating to maintenance staff training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
