Job Summary:
Lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities at this level
Duties/Responsibilities:
Shake out parts
Positions or tightens braces, jacks and clamps
Bolt parts in position for welding or bolting
Uses transit to locate reference points
Demonstrate the proper use of all personal protective equipment
Identify proper rigging equipment
Know and properly use crane signals
Operate cut-off saw
Operate different types of man lifts in a safe manner
Operate Sawz-all
Begin learning to rig structural member for lift
Begin learning to complete structural detailing
Have an understanding of Skyweb strapping
Operate torch for straight and bevel cuts
Begin learning to read pre-engineered erection drawings
Reasonable expectation to help train under-skilled coworkers
Other duties and tasks as assigned by a superintendent/supervisor/crew leader
Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED. Absent a diploma or GED then six (6) months related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and manuals
- Basic math skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- OSHA 10-hour training
- Rough terrain forklift certification
- Aerial lift certification
Other Qualifications:
- Must be willing to travel to job locations
- Must work in other trades as needed
- Must have all tools on required Ferguson Construction tool list to move to next level
- Work overtime and Saturdays as needed
- Perform general maintenance or cleanup work
- Attend appropriate training courses when requested in order to move to next level
- Work with others in a harmonious way and maintains an attitude becoming a Ferguson Construction Ironworker

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
