Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems, and solutions within the market they serve. Through domain knowledge and actionable research, they help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues, and execute new practices that propel clients' businesses toward key objectives. As a trusted source of advice, they reinforce Gartner's value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences.

In your role as the Director, Analyst, Document Management Systems Expert you will be primarily responsible for leading, and advising Gartner clients by researching the management and support of content service platforms, document management solutions and information governance practices for a modern workplace. You will be responsible for creating and delivering both strategic and tactical advice which guides IT leaders through written research, event presentations, teleconferences and client interactions.

What you will do:

  • Build credibility as a domain or industry expert, staying up to date on developments and issues within specified research topic areas and technology markets

  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice area via virtual or face-to-face interactions

  • Collaborate effectively with a team of analysts to develop thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and requests

  • Create compelling, clear, actionable, "must-have research" content based on research best practices and Gartner methodologies

  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community

  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events and client briefings

  • Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support to retain and grow the business

What you will need:

  • Subject matter expertise in content services platforms, document management solutions and information governance with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the business applications and opportunities in this technology market.

  • Senior practitioner experience in 2 or more areas:

    • Designing a content services technology roadmap that best aligns with the business objectives

    • Procurement processes and buying/selling cycles for content service platforms and commercial models supported by vendors for document and/or records management

    • Modernizing a governance strategy for enterprise information integration, protection and/or Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities

    • Deploying content services in large organization or institution with a mix of content services platforms (e.g., OpenText, Hyland, Box) and applications

    • Implementing and/or integrating two or more document management solutions with line of business applications (e.g., ERP, CRM)

    • SharePoint migration, particularly Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant and on-premises (SharePoint Server or file shares) to Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 10 years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Examples of proactive learning and pursuit of knowledge beyond current areas of expertise

  • Executive presence; able to immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders

  • Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability

  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 165,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
