This position is primarily responsible for helping to increase institutional enrollment by fielding inquiries, supporting, and advising individual prospective students throughout the admissions process. The Admissions Advisor is responsible for representing Southern California University of Health Science in a positive and professional manner while recruiting qualified applicants for admission to the University in accordance with state and federal accreditation and institutional policies and regulations, consistent with the highest ethical standards. This position requires excellent verbal and written communications and strong time and resources management skills. Individuals must be able to solve problems and overcome objections as needed. Ideal candidates should have prior experience in admissions, recruitment, outreach, public speaking, customer service, sales, and a passion for helping others. This position will conduct a high quantity of prospect phone contacts and emails to secure appointments, campus tours, events RSVPs, interview activity, and conduct follow-up activity with unresolved candidates and future class applicants. Candidates must also be willing to work a combination of shifts between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 8:00 am 5:00 pm in addition to other alternative schedules as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Advise prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the University.

Primary point-of-contact for prospective new students.

Responsible to manage all prospective student database and prospective student activities.

Be able to make 75-100 outbound calls per day using a dialing software.

Follow-up with all assigned inquiries as appropriate via phone, emails, and letters to schedule campus tours, events RSVPs, and face-to-face advising activities to achieve prompt contact and performance activity goals.

Conduct campus tours with prospective students and their families while communicating the details and benefits of attending SCU.

Adhere to approved SCU admissions standards and materials to matriculate new students including phone call scripts and career planning.

Consistently conduct follow-up with all applicants to ensure successful matriculation.

Represent SCU on and off campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals and organizations involved in the college selection process including but not limited to open houses, orientation programs, career fairs, college events, and student related events as needed.

Manage ongoing strategic communications with high school and independent counselors, including email, print, and other media, in close consultation with the Director for Admissions.

Perform one-on-one admissions counseling to diverse populations primarily by in-person, appointments, phone calls, and emails.

Complete all student enrollment documents and forms accurately.

Support the SCU team-oriented work environment by maintaining a pleasant and professional attitude and appearance.

Collaboration with other departments and offices across campus with data collection and problem solving.

Must follow best practices and compliance with all SCU policies and procedures.

Uphold the highest levels of professionalism with high ethical conduct at all times.

Accurately and completely explain educational programs, expected outcomes, students services, and financial consideration to students, parents, and educators.

Pursue qualified candidates for enrollment, and determine appropriateness of candidates for admission based upon career goal compatibility.

Ability to learn product knowledge, phone handling, and advisement for all SCU programs.

Perform other SCU duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S) from a four year accredited college or university and 2-3years of admissions advising or sales related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); Enrollment Management Software; Customer Relationship Manager Software; and Jenzabar.

OTHER SKILL, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelors degree

    2-3 years of admissions advising or related experience

    Enrollment management software working knowledge, preferably Salesforce (TargetX)

    Outreach/field advising

    Admissions funnel management (Inquiry to Start)

    Advising with adult learners/graduate programs

    Phone skills and objection handling experience

    Knowledge of marketing and recruiting concepts and sales and customer service experience a plus.

    Ability to travel to remote locations and to load and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment. Some evening and weekend hours required, especially during the travel season.

    Ability to represent the admissions profession positively through a strong, student-centered ethic.

These hours do not roll over at the end of the year and cannot be banked.

Accrual rate and maximum hour cap depend on the position held by the individual and the amount of time said individual has been employed by the University (3.08, 4.62, or 6.15 hours/pay period).
