Description

The Department of History, Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, and the Jewish Studies Program in the College of the Liberal Arts invites applications for an Administrative Support Assistant. The primary responsibilities of this position include event planning for all three units and providing undergraduate administrative support by working collaboratively with the Undergraduate Administrative Assistant. These duties include but are not limited to: maintaining the websites for three majors, create pages. Conduct social media outreach. Plan events related to undergraduates such as the annual awards receptions, semester "tailgates" and other undergraduate recruiting events. Arranging meetings, visits and events (including conferences, speaker series, and lecture events). Advertise internship opportunities and manage the internship applications and certification of internship requirement completion. Handle student requests and paperwork such as Drop/Add, administrative course cancellations, complaints, and requests for research and study abroad funding. Oversee preliminary graduation certifications and student contact. We are looking for someone with excellent, demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work in a collaborative environment, and the ability to work both independently and as a team player. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional desired competencies include: experience with undergraduate program procedures; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to use judgment in problem solving. Experience with MS windows desktop operating systems preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Access and Excel plus working knowledge with LionPATH and Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded one year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
