THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you are responsible for receiving assignments from their Audit Manager and ensuring that these assignments are completed by overseeing a team of professional auditors. You review the work performed to ensure that it aligns with the objectives, accepted auditing standards, and procedures set by management.

Throughout the year, you will monitor the progress of the audit plan to ensure that it is being followed accordingly. You will also make sure that desk reviews, such as prequalification's, rearwards, and overheads, are conducted in compliance with performance standards. This includes effectively communicating any deficiencies found in consultants/contractors and conducting and reviewing desk reviews as necessary.

This position will coordinate the audit work of the audit teams, which includes managing activities related to computer systems. This involves tasks such as administering passwords, managing systems access, and other related activities.

You will supervise the development of various audit-related materials, such as computer runs, permanent files, audit programs, questionnaires, and testing methodologies. These materials are developed in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards set by organizations like the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), and other governmental audit agencies. You will also ensure compliance with relevant state and federal laws and regulations.

This position evaluates the performance of their staff based on established standards. You will identify areas where skills improvement is needed and provide guidance to the audit staff on necessary changes. After each engagement, you will complete an evaluation of the assignment.

You will maintain consistent communication with the Audit Manager, providing updates on assignment progress and discussing significant issues related to the audit work. This communication can be in summary or detailed form, depending on the circumstances determined by the Audit Manager. You will also ensure timely updates to project/budget tracking tools.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Travel and overnight travel will be required.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Audit Specialist 2; or
  • Three years of professional auditing experience and a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by eighteen [18] credits in accounting and auditing; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which included the required eighteen [18] credits in accounting and auditing.
