About this job

The world's largest custom silicon growing facility and provides services including prototyping and manufacturing of low-volume components and assemblies, and offers silicon blanks and ingots in a variety of sizes.

Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce quality products that meet or exceed customer requirements.

They will be responsible for in-process part inspection and documentation. Machinist will work with CNC mills, lathes and grinders, and EDM machines depending on experience.

Most of Silfex's machines are 3-axis Haas or Mazak machines. Their machines operate on Fanuc and Mazatrol controls. Machinist will be broken up into one of 3 different groups depending on experience.

1. Inner Value Stream (IVS)-Makes parts with a lot of small holes that look like shower heads. It is used for gas distribution for the customer equipment.


2.Outer Value Stream (OVS): Makes very large rings (mostly) that go outside of the inner electrode (IVS part). They also make some parts that mimic the two pieces together


3.Hot Edge Ring (HER): is a much smaller part, thin rings that go around the wafer for the customer process.
All three groups include machine operators, cnc machinist and, cnc programmers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and apply knowledge of Quality Management System
Accurately machine parts per work instructions
Inspect parts for defects and other anomalies visually and by using basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, indicators, and calipers to ensure parts meet proper specifications
Properly document measurements and visual observations
Use proper material handling techniques
Generate maintenance work orders for repair of CNC machines and equipment
Request new or replacement tooling as needed
Maintain job rotation within department
Interpret drawings, work instructions, and other production related information
Interpret setup sheets and data related to part/machine setups
Use DNC software to transfer programs to/from CNC machines
Setup/operate CNC machining centers/grinders and other equipment
Troubleshoot and identify problems with machines, programs, and tooling
Solicit input from machinists, supervisors, or others to recommend improvements
Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director of Manufacturing
Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S
Perform general housekeeping tasks
Perform tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments
Perform other duties as assigned by department management

Work Environment: �� Climate controlled environment. ISO certified. Clean environment. Qualifications: �� Must Have for Level 3:
-High School diploma or GED
-1 year of experience operating a CNC machine
-Must be able to assess drawings and specifications for machining and inspection results
-Must be able to use a wide variety of measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators, calipers, and other measuring devices
-Must have strong math skills, particularly trigonometry
-Must have basic understanding of computers

Must Have Level 4:
-High school diploma or GED
-Minimum 3 years of experience operating a machine
-Experience editing CNC programs
-Able to work effectively individually and in a team environment with minimum supervision
-Must be able to assess drawings and specifications for machining and inspection results
-Must be able to use a wide variety of measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators, calipers, and other measuring devices
-Must have strong math skills, particularly trigonometry
-Basic understanding of computers
Performance Expectations: �� Machinist are responsible for meeting production rates. Interview Information: �� Candidates being interviewed MUST BRING A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE.
Candidates will go through a panel interview with a recruiter Sonia Tippie, as well as 3-4 manufacturing managers or machining supervisors. The interview will last between 45min-1.5 hours. Candidates may or may not receive a tour depending on availability. The interview will consist of HR and Skill based questions.
Additional Compensation: �� March 1st of every new year, permanent employees are eligible for a pay increase. Depending on performance, employees will receive a 1%-6% raise. 6% pay raises are issues to over achievers. A 1% pay increase would be issues to someone barely meeting daily requirements. In order to receive a pay raise, the employee must be employed before October 1st of the previous year.

Company also offers quarterly production bonuses for machinist. They can earn up to $1,500 per quarter and a potential of $6,000 on the year.
Last Years-this years production bonuses:
-December 2016: $1,500
-January 2017: $400
-April 2017: $1,350
-September 2017: $750
Additional Information: �� Pay rates:$15-25/hr


-A,B,C,D shift available.
-A/B: 6:00am-6pm working a 2,2,3 rotating schedule
-C/D: 6:00pm-6:00am working a 2,2,3 rotating schedule
-Employees on an off shift have the opportunity to move to first shift very quickly. The average time it takes a C or D shift to move to a A or B shift is between 12-24 months. Employees are allowed to post shift preferences internally.
-All employees will have a laminated card with everyday they are scheduled to work for the calendar year.
-OT: Average of 45 hours a week.

Training: Machinist will train on the shift that they are hired on.
