The Design Release Engineer will be responsible for the activities related to the Design and Release of high power devices for Electrified Vehicle applications. This position entails working with power electronics suppliers to insure corporate requirements and specifications, as well as industry best practice design features and processes, are implemented for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, etc. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation outlining best practices supporting FCA internal continuous improvement initiatives and the development of product technology roadmaps.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Review supplier CAE analysis results and provide feedback for design compliance and robustness
- Release of high power electrical components, assemblies, and related software
- Engineering Project Management from concept to physical parts/assemblies, testing/validation, and launch
- Attend and support pre-production and production vehicle builds
- Participate in root cause vehicle build issues and implement solutions in a timely manner
- Oversight of supplier and FCA internal validation of hardware and software
- Coordinate/expedite orders and shipments for prototype and development parts
- Coordinate, plan, and execute DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, CAE analysis, and all other component design/release documents
- Assist in the APQP process, PFMEAs, Control Plans and VA/VE activities
- Maintain the assigned project open issues list and attending regular customer meetings
- Prepare/summarize reports/data for internal presentations
- Insure products meet function, quality, cost, weight, attribute, and timing requirements
- Provide technical leadership for advanced component and technology roadmaps
- Perform complex design analysis and evaluating engineering designs (i.e. worst case analysis)
- Stay current on relevant new technologies and competitive products
