About this job

An established, international manufacturing company in Rancho Santa Margarita is looking for an experienced QC Inspector. This individual inspects parts and raw material, does final inspection and adjusts gauges for conformance to blueprint specifications. This position is expected to last at least through June and may turn into a temp to hire opportunity. The hours are 9AM to 6PM, Monday to Friday. The pay is $20+/hour, depending on experience.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform receipt inspections of parts and raw material.
  • Perform final inspections prior to crating or shipment.
  • Complete and record welding, painting and crating inspections.
  • Witness tests with and without customer source inspectors.
  • Identify and protect parts after inspection is completed.
  • Inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
  • Verify dimensions of parts against blueprint specifications.
  • Measure surface flatness and finish.
  • Compute unspecified dimensions and other data.
  • Set up and operate all inspection and test equipment, fixtures, measuring instruments, surface and depth gages to determine acceptability of dimensions, finishes, performance characteristics on any part, sub-assembly or product to specification or tolerance as required.
  • Perform surface plate layout and first piece approval or rejection based on configuration, dimensions, finishes, leakage, surface defects (visual), etc.
  • Use of inspection equipment such as optical comparator, profilometer, height gage, depth gage, plug/ring gages, gage blocks, dial indicator, caliper, micrometers, etc.
  • Prepare inspection records and reports.
  • Receive instructions from salaried or lead personnel.
  • Load and move material, equipment and product to and from work area or shop floor by hand or the use of material handling equipment, including floor operated cranes.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, process sheets, layouts, and templates, written and verbal instructions.
  • Keep work area, machinery and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Report blueprint errors and/or errors in written instructions.
  • Work with Job Quality Requirement and Q.A. Procedures.
  • Figure the most accurate and productivity methods to measure typical parts, and training to Inspection and Production personnel.
  • Calibrate of equipment and other gauges using master gauges or send to outside supplier.
  • Ability to perform source inspections in and outside the U.S preferred.
  • Ability to direct and assist lower classified inspectors when required preferred.
Qualifications:
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of trigonometry to make set-ups and calculations.
  • Must be able to handle small parts to heavy parts.
  • Must be capable of performing in any area of Inspection including in-process, final, receiving, welding, assembly, gage calibration and source inspection.
  • Must be able to work with virtually no supervision to function in assigned area.
  • Must be able to work in a multi-task environment.
  • Must be quality oriented.
  • Time management skills preferred.
  • Organizational skills preferred.
  • Written and verbal communication skills preferred.
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) a plus.
  • Knowledge of set up and operation of all inspection equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5, Mil-std-120 and Mil-std-45662A preferred.
  • Knowledge of hardness tester and ultrasonic tester preferred.
  • Must be available to work overtime when required for priority shipments.
  • Certified Quality Inspector Certificate is desirable
