It is the responsibility of the Assistant Facilities Manager to assists senior management with project initiation to include the creative concept design and development of a business plan. Provides leadership and direction throughout the construction and opening phase of various projects in all areas of the campus. This responsibility includes the analysis of existing efforts and the successful implementation of new initiatives in regards to the room refresh project. All duties are performed in accordance with Gold Strike's policies, practices, and procedures, as well as within the framework of the MGM Resorts International's Mission Statement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS

  • Assists Assistant Chief Engineer with daily or shift specifications by prioritizing projects and assign work tasks to crew members.
  • Manage employees in proper work methods and standards; monitor crew work quality; insure adherence to time schedules and safe work practices
  • Motivate employees by creating and maintaining a positive work environment including suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, terminating, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of other employees.
  • Ensure that the right product is developed and delivered to meet Company's quality standard, and contract requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate the communication and interaction amongst the functional representatives, internal and external.
  • Track project against its schedule, budget and against phase review objectives, reporting status to management and customer on a regular basis, and executive staff on an as needed basis.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated eventualities.
  • Recommend new processes where needed to improve quality or on-time delivery.
  • Participation in Project Meetings as required.
  • Assists other departments with special functions/special events.
  • Performs additional job duties as determined by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

HVAC Engineers, Carpenter, Kitchen Engineers, FCC Dispatch, Facilities Tech, Facilities Tech, Jr.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A High School diploma or equivalent and six years of trade or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Driver's License

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, air conditioning, electrical, mechanical and hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to read blueprints and computer printouts.
  • Read, write, and understand English.
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills and very detail oriented.
  • Knowledgeable of planning, reading, writing, using math, and discriminating colors
  • Possess strong organizational ability in developing effective methods that ensures product quality with all projects
  • Able to lead and mentor a team.
  • Ability to make decisions.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, sitting, listening, using computer, telephone, and speaking.
  • Reaching, stooping, bending, crawling, kneeling and twisting.
  • Walking distances up to 1,000 ft., between departments and casino floor.
  • Using wrist motion, dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and writing.
  • Carrying, pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work performed indoors and outdoors. Employee may be exposed to dust, fumes, odors, and hot and cold temperatures. Employee will be required to stand on concrete floors and to occasionally walk on uneven or wet surfaces. Employee may be exposed to secondhand smoke. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:

Regular scheduled hours but must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours.
