It is the primary responsibility of the Bartender to service guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner mix and serve drinks while ensuring his/her outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner making them feel welcome; bid farewell to guests, using guest's name when known, and encourage them to return.
  • Provide excellent guest service by anticipating the guests' needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  • Accurately mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks following set standard recipes by ensuring correct product is utilized and bar is fully stocked.
  • Prepare mixed drinks by combining extracts and syrups according to formulas and properly using bar tools such as jiggers.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non- alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
  • Oversee overall operation of the outlet bar.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the bar.
  • Take and input orders into infogenesis, receive payment and make proper change, complete required transactions, and categorize tendered receipts by media type.
  • Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies, keeping bank secure at all times
  • Provide Apprentices and Porters direction and coaching to ensure proper operation of the bar and assist them when necessary.
  • Clean of all equipment, tools, and supplies and maintain equipment in good working order.
  • Keep count on tickets and perform cash drops at the end of the shift.
  • Communicate with managers, co-workers and guests in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees.
  • Follow all procedures, standard policies and initiatives and policies set forth by the company, division and department.
  • Follow all health sanitization and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • At least 6 months of experience as a Bartender.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Apprentice Bartender or similar service role.
  • Working knowledge of all beverage functions including the mixing of drinks and the operation of all bar equipment.
  • Working knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink.
  • Working knowledge of beverage product, supplies and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have documentation of successful completion of the Bartenders Local 165 Joint Apprenticeship Training Program and have passed the craft exam related to the program.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Bartender in a similar resort setting.
  • Bilingual, English as the primary or secondary language.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
