Under the supervision of the Recreation Specialist, the Mini Sports Coordinator is responsible for the instruction and supervision of participants in various sports programs. The coordinator will engage young athletes through demonstration and teach a variety of youth sports including football, t-ball, basketball, soccer and tennis.The Youth Sports Program also known as Mini Sports has classes scheduled on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:00 pm and Saturdays from 12:00-1:30pm. During Summer the position is Mon, Tue, Wed from 4:30-7:00pm. Essential Functions: *Responsible for class set-up and clean-up of program areas.*Responsible for instructing young children ages 3-5 primarily.*Creates and follows a class itinerary to engage and develop participant skill.*Ensures a safe playing environment for participants.*Observes, enforces and explains all facility rules and regulations.*Answer any parent questions/concerns before and after the program.*Reports problems or needs to management.*Report to work at least 15 minutes prior to class and stays until all participants have left.*Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility procedures.*Communicate equipment and/or supply needs with management.*All other duties as may be assigned. Position Requirements: *Possess an interest in working with/instructing toddlers and young children.*Must have knowledge and ability to organize and teach the fundamentals of a variety of sports.*Ability to keep simple records and reports, and work from oral and written directions.*Possess a broad knowledge of sports.*Previous instructing, coaching and/or competitive playing required.*Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.*Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with participants, parents, staff, city officials and the public.* Ability to present a positive image of the department and the City.
