 A successful Business Operations Analyst will have the following: 

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three years related experience and/or training; and two plus years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, as well as knowledge of database basics (e.g. SQL, MS Access); experience in Python, Java, C++, or C#.

  • Experience in Agile development methodologies preferable

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical abilities, with proficiency in mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, statistics, probabilities, algebraic expressions, etc.) and ability to define problems, seek and collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Well-developed oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts into understandable and easy-to-follow presentation materials; Sharp attention to detail; high personal standards for quality and thoroughness

  • Experience with or ability to work in a fast-paced environment; and excellent teamwork skills with ability to establish productive working relationships with other departments and personnel

 

This Business Operations Analyst position falls within our Technical Operations DISH Beta Team. While primarily a member of the Customer Service Center organization, Technical Operations supports various business groups internal to DISH, and externally with our vendors.  As a DISH Beta Analyst, you will be a key player in DISH’s software release process.  Your focus will be to identify, trend, and escalate potential software bugs in DISH’s set top boxes, as well as develop and validate analytic theories on potential software and hardware abnormalities.

 

Primary responsibilities will fall into the following categories: 

  • Review feedback from testers and agents through tools and forums for potential product issues, and in turn provide feedback back to the person reporting the issue to close the feedback loop

  • Identify bugs by participating in the DISH beta program and through routine testing when new software is released and/or features launched

  • Accomplishing tasks using various databases throughout the company, and writing custom SQL Server scripts to identify software issues and create needed reports.  Working to turn these ad-hoc investigations into recurring and ongoing processes

  • Develop and archive documentation referencing software release notes, projects, and Product Stability processes

  • Coordinate with various departments such as product marketing, technical support, and programming to plan for business changes that may impact the overall stability of the set top box

  • Use Excel, Tableau, and other tools to manipulate data and generate reports and trend analyses; use Word, InDesign, and other tools to create and maintain testing materials and other guides for internal and external audiences
