Position Responsibilities

Deltek is seeking an intern to join our Cloud Cost Optimization team. This role is crucial in supporting the lifecycle of cloud financial management (FinOps Practice), including analysis of cloud expenditures, forecasting, and optimization strategies. We're looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a keen interest in cloud FinOps and the ability to analyze financial data to support Deltek's cloud expansion strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Analysis and Reporting: Prepare and manage monthly presentations detailing cloud costs versus planned budgets and forecasts, aimed at finance and project management teams.
• Tool Implementation Support: Assist in evaluating and implementing cloud consumption management tools and solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams to understand cloud service consumption patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement best practices.
• Cost Optimization Initiatives: Collaborate with Finance and Engineering teams to recommend and procure reserved instances and savings plans across platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Governance and Compliance: Partner with the Cloud Governance Team to implement tagging and alert strategies that effectively manage costs at scale.
• Forecasting and Resource Management: Assist with cloud demand forecasting and daily resource management in conjunction with infrastructure, engineering, and product teams.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their onboarding to FinOps tools and processes.
• Metrics and KPI Development: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of KPIs, scorecards, and standard metrics that track cloud spending and optimization.
• Educational Initiatives: Drive cost optimization through educating teams on financial insights, promoting cost-aware architecture, and advocating for automated resource optimization.

Qualifications

Intern Qualifications:

• Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Degree in Computer Science, or Information Systems.
• Knowledge of Cloud Cost Management: Familiarity with native cloud cost management tools and/or third-party cloud management or optimization platforms.
• Introduction to FinOps: Exposure to or academic projects related to technology and financial management in cloud environments.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and present findings in a clear and understandable manner.
• Technical Proficiency: Basic understanding of cloud provider cost management capabilities and pricing models. Experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS or Azure, through coursework or personal projects is preferred.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in team settings.
• Initiative and Drive: Results-oriented and proactive in learning new skills and technologies.
• Passion for Learning: Keen interest in gaining experience in financial analysis, cost management, and cloud technologies.
• Certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner or cloud provider certifications (AWS, Azure) are beneficial but not required.

Compensation Information

The U.S. hourly range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
