Job Description:

The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator is responsible for the implementing all organizational and agency initiatives and professional growth opportunities to enhance clinical practice. This position supports clinical leadership in ensuring that all clinical staff have the necessary skills to provide safe, effective, and quality home care services. 

Responsibilities:

• Works with all clinical management staff to ensure effective programs for onboarding and orientation, continuing education, preceptor preparation, ongoing competency assessment, policy and procedure implementation, and professional development of the organization's clinical staff.
• Develops curricula and learning resources built on evidence-based practice, incorporating both didactic and hands-on clinical experiences. 
• Plans, develops, and facilitates opportunities for staff to continuously refine and advance their competencies in patient care, teaching, critical thinking and judgment.
• Develops a preceptor/mentoring program for new staff with the goals of strengthening the nursing/clinical workforce, providing role models, and offering the leadership/support needed to deliver the best care possible. 
• Ensures successful implementation of a nurse residency program for skills development of new graduate and new-to-practice RNs.
• Coordinates/provides education in the development of OASIS and HIS/HOPE integration and its impact on patient care and agency function.
• Designs or collaborates in designing educational curriculums, classes and activities. 
• Provide input into the employee evaluation process, counsel employees and/or recommend initial discipline and other personnel actions.
• Supports quality assessment and improvement initiatives and processes and serves on the QAPI Committee. 
• Provides clinical input to Manager of QAPI/Compliance with overseeing Policy and Procedure development and revisions, along with assisting with evaluating operations for compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements:

• Active RN license within the State of practice.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required – Master’s degree in Nursing Education preferred (Will consider RN Clinical Educator experience in leu of Master’s degree).
• 5 years of nursing experience, with preference given to home health/hospice, palliative care or geriatrics.
• Demonstrated skills in written/oral communication, supervision of staff, documentation requirements, service coordination, and case management.
• Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft programs required.
