Personal Care Aide Job Summary CareBuilders at Home of EastSide

As a Personal Care Aide, you play a vital role in providing nonmedical assistance to individuals in their homes or facilities. This includes aiding with activities of daily living, housecleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transportation, companion care, and respite. Personal Care Aides report to both the Owner/Manager and Supervisor, ensuring our clients receive the highest standard of care.

Education
- High School, GED or equivalent,
- Personal care (service) course and training meeting state requirement
- State registration or certification as required by state law.
Experience
- Six months of experience as a personal care aide in the last 3 years or similar experience.
Credentials
- Initial tuberculosis test showing non-infectivity. Annual tuberculosis screening.
- Drug Screening
- Background Check
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance if driving clients or if driving on behalf of clients as part of work duties.
Working Conditions
Possible exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities
- Adheres to CareBuilders at Home policies and procedures.
- Adheres to the client's service plan.
- Conducts observation of the home environment to ensure client safety and security.
- Assists with light household chores such as cooking, meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry.
- Assists with activities such as shopping and appointments outside the home as outlined in the service plan.
- Provides companionship including social interaction, conversation, emotional reassurance, encouragement of reading, writing, and engaging in mind-stimulating activities.
- Assists with activities of daily living, personal services, and other tasks as specified in the service plan, such as medication reminders within state regulations.
- Records detailed service notes for each visit, documenting services provided, time in and out of assignment, and confirmation of service completion.
- Notifies supervisor if tasks cannot be completed or if there are changes in the client’s condition not in line with the service plan.
- Communicates with agency supervisor regarding incidents, unexpected occurrences, injuries, and emergencies.
- Collaborates with other members of the home care team working in the client's home.
- Follows infection control protocols established by the agency, including hand cleaning procedures.
- Performs additional tasks and duties as assigned within the permitted scope of agency services.

COVID-19 considerations:
All care aides are expected to be fully vaccinated per state requirements. Appropriate PPE will be provided as needed to ensure care aides safety and that of the clients.
