Lead Clinical Assistant

Reports to Director of Office Operations & Manager of Clinical Services

Summary

The Lead Clinical Assistant will work closely with the Manager of Clinical Services to oversee and facilitate the day-to-day operations of the clinics within the orthopedic practice. This role requires a highly organized individual with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of clinical procedures and patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Training: Provide supervision, guidance, and training to clinical assistants to ensure efficient and effective workflow. Assist in the orientation and onboarding of new clinical staff.
  • Workflow Management: Coordinate patient flow and manage clinic schedules to optimize efficiency and minimize patient wait times. Ensure adherence to established protocols and procedures.
  • Patient Care: Assist clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care, including assisting with procedures, taking patient vitals, and providing patient education as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels of clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate departments to ensure timely procurement and replenishment.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in clinical care. Implement quality improvement initiatives as directed by the Manager of Clinical Services.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, administrative staff, and management to facilitate smooth communication and resolve any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Administrative Support: Assist in the completion of administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing electronic health records, and processing patient billing information.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all clinical areas adhere to safety protocols and regulations. Assist in the implementation of infection control measures and emergency preparedness plans.

Administrative Support:

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the Administrator or the Board, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a clinical setting, preferably in orthopaedics.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity are required for performing clinical tasks.
