Summary/Objective
The Furniture Bank Program Driver provides moving, hauling, and furniture removal and installation services for local customers.
Essential Functions
- Operate a 26 ft. non-commercial truck adhering to all safety and traffic regulations. Responsible for daily pre-trip inspection of box trucks and completion of maintenance check sheet.
- Load and unload furniture and related materials onto and off trucks, ensuring that appropriate padding and straps are utilized to prevent damage. Place donated furniture from truck and dock into heat chamber or racked inventory using picker. Tag per VA State license.
- Attend planning, strategy & safety meeting for projects as scheduled.
- Model proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environment practices.
- Clean up work sites, discarding all trash and debris.
- Complete daily log of inventory received and trip sheet.
- Responsible for maintaining warehouse equipment, both on the truck and in warehouse.
- Guide and mentor volunteers and interns as directed by warehouse supervisor/manager.
- Pick up and coordinate bulk donations.
Competencies
Possess strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, open, and teachable. Must possess valid Virginia state driver's license and have knowledge of all federal, state and local compliance and safety regulations.
Physical Demand
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift up to 75 lbs., stand; walk; and, reach with hands and arms.
