Prenatal Community Health Care Manager/ISD MA

BASIC FUNCTION

The Prenatal Community Health Care Manager/Medical Assistant, Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary care team under the general supervision of the RN or healthcare provider. Supports patients in improving their comprehensive care needs and works closely and collaboratively with the patient care team, to ensure high quality and seamless care for patients. In addition, this role provides direct patient care along with clinical and administrative assistance to the healthcare provider(s), ensuring smooth patient flow and efficient clinical operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Medical Assistant Clinical Responsibilities:

1. Obtain medical history from patients and record vital signs

1. Accurate documentation of services provided

1. Prepare patients for examinations, assist with medical procedures and treatments

1. Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers or protocol

1. Perform basic laboratory tests and collect specimens for testing

1. Provide Patient Education as directed by provider or protocol

1. Instruct patients about medication and special diets as directed by healthcare providers or protocol

1. Conducts basic first aid and CPR

1. Awareness of infection control protocols

1. Medical Assistant Administrative Responsibilities:

1. Communicate with patients and their families regarding healthcare needs and concerns

1. Schedule appointments for patients and maintain medical records as needed

1. Answer phones, properly document messages, and provide information to patients
